How to place a stock order

Step-by-step guide to buying and selling assets with your Wealth account

Updated this week

You can place an order for any of the assets available in the search section of the app. Currently, only market orders are supported. This means trades are executed at the best available price once the market is open. We’re working to support additional order types in the future.

If the market is open, your order will be executed instantly. If the market is closed, your order will remain pending until the market reopens.

How to place an order on an asset you don’t own

To place a new order:

  1. Go to the ‘Wealth’ tab

  2. Tap ‘Invest’

  3. Search and select the stock you want to buy

  4. Tap ‘Buy’

  5. Enter the cash amount or number of shares you want to purchase

  6. Tap ‘Continue’ to review the trade details

  7. Submit the order

Placing an order on an asset you already own

To buy or sell a stock you already own:

  • Go to your portfolio in the ‘Wealth’ tab

  • Tap the stock you want to trade

  • Tap ‘Invest’, then choose ‘Buy’ or ‘Sell’

Why can the trade amount change when executed

Buy orders are defined by the cash amount you enter. The number of shares you'll receive depends on the stock price at the time your order is executed. If the price changes between order placement and execution, the number of shares bought may vary.

Sell orders are defined by the number of shares you want to sell. If the price changes before execution, the amount of cash you receive may differ slightly.
