How dividends work in your Wealth account

Everything you need to know about dividends

Updated this week

A dividend is a distribution of a company's earnings to shareholders, determined by its board of directors. To receive dividends, you must hold securities (whole or fractional) on or before the ex-dividend date. Stocks bought on or after this date are ineligible.

Taxes on dividends

DolarApp automatically processes dividends into your investment account.
We don't provide tax advice. If you have any questions or concerns, we recommend seeking independent professional advice.

For US stocks, non-US persons may be subject to up to a 30% withholding tax on dividends. This rate may be reduced depending on your country's tax treaty with the US.

Types of dividends

  • Cash dividends: You can view cash dividend details, including any withholding tax, in your investment transactions under 'Dividend'.

  • Stock dividends: If you receive stock dividends, your portfolio holdings will be adjusted accordingly.

How to view dividends

  • Go to the 'Wealth' tab under the 'Transactions' section.

  • Tap the dividend transaction to view the details.

Currently, our app does not offer automatic reinvestment of dividends into additional shares of the paying company. We are continuously improving the platform and may offer this feature in the future.
