When creating a DolarApp account you can choose 2 types of cards: Global (white card) or Local (green card). Each one has its unique benefits and purpose. This article helps you understand when and why to use each!

Global Card - pay abroad 馃寧

Card issued outside of Brazil, which uses primarily your USDc or EURc balance.

The global card is available in both virtual and physical formats.

When to use: When paying abroad (traveling or online shopping)

Why: It uses your USDc or EURc which you have previously bought at the best rate available in the market of 0,5%.

When not to use: When paying in Brazil

Why: it uses USDc balance, so it needs to do a USDC>BRL conversion first, on which a 0,5% fee is charged. In this case, we recommend paying with the Local card, which uses your BRL balance directly.

Payments you make with the Global Card are not eligible for the 1% cashback on local purchases when you are a Premium member.

Local Card - pay in Brazil 馃嚙馃嚪

A card issued in Brazil that uses primarily your BRL balance. Available in both digital and physical formats. The physical and virtual Local Card can be requested directly via the DolarApp.

When to use: When paying in Brazil

Why: It uses your BRL balance without any additional costs or tax

When no to use: When paying abroad

Why: Payments made with Brazilian cards abroad are taxed 3,5% IOF in addition to the exchange rate of the credit card brand (e.g. Mastercard) which generally is not as competitive as the DolarApp rate applied to top-up your USDc balance used by the Global Card

Payments you make with the Local Card are eligible for the 1% cashback on local purchases when you are a Premium member.
