Dividends are distributions of a company’s earnings to its shareholders, approved by the board of directors. To receive a dividend, you must own shares by the ex‑dividend date. Shares purchased on or after that date are not eligible. Companies may pay dividends in cash or stock:
Cash dividends: You receive cash directly into your account.
Stock dividends: Your portfolio holdings are adjusted to reflect the additional shares.
What taxes apply to dividends?
For US-listed stocks, non-US residents may be subject to up to a 30% withholding tax, though this may be reduced based on your country's tax treaty. While Argentinian, Colombian and Brazilian residents pay 30% of withholding tax, Mexican residents pay 10% of withholding tax.
Where can you see your dividends?
Go to the 'Wealth' tab under the 'Transactions' section and tap any dividend entry to view details. You can also see the total dividends received from a company by selecting its details and under the 'My position' section.
Can I reinvest my dividends automatically?
Currently, our app does not offer automatic reinvestment of dividends into additional shares of the paying company. We are continuously improving the platform and may offer this feature in the future.
