A quick summary of everything you need to know about Pix

Updated over a week ago

What is Pix?

Pix is an instant payment method in Brazil. In just a few seconds, amounts are transferred between accounts, with no time or day limit. It's safe, fast and can be used to make card payments, "boleto" payments, withdraw money and schedule transfers.

Using Pix, you don't need to know which bank the recipient has an account with, just their Pix Key. What's more, with Pix you can scan QR Codes, and both the sender and the recipient are notified when the transaction is complete.

Pix Key?

The Pix Key is a way of identifying your bank account or digital wallet chosen by the user. You can create up to 5 different keys for individual accounts and 20 for corporate accounts.

The allowed keys are:

  • CPF/CNPJ

  • Cell phone number

  • E-mail

  • Random key (sequence of numbers and letters generated by the Brazilian Central Bank)
